What to Expect at Your Visit

Arriving prepared helps your appointment run smoothly and ensures your provider has the information needed to give you the best care possible. Here is a general overview of what to expect:

Before You Arrive

  • Complete any pre-visit paperwork or online forms sent by the office.
  • Arrive 15 minutes early to allow time for check-in, especially for a first visit.
  • Review your checklist above to make sure you have everything you need.

During Check-In

  • Present your insurance card and photo ID at the front desk.
  • Verify your contact information, address, emergency contact, and pharmacy.
  • Pay any copay or outstanding balance at check-in or check-out as directed.

During Your Visit

  • A nurse or medical assistant will check your vitals (blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, weight).
  • Your provider will review your history, discuss your concerns, perform any needed examination, and recommend next steps.
  • Ask your prepared questions. Take notes on the answers and instructions.
  • Do not hesitate to ask for clarification if something is unclear.

After Your Visit

  • Schedule any follow-up appointments before leaving the office.
  • Pick up any new prescriptions or confirm they have been sent to your pharmacy.
  • Review your visit summary or after-visit notes.
